Zurich Diamond League 2023: Neeraj Chopra Secures Silver | Sreeshankar Finishes 5th

In the Zurich leg of the Diamond League 2023, reigning World Champion Neeraj Chopra secured the second position with a remarkable throw that covered a distance of 85.71 meters. The 25-year-old athlete took the runner-up spot, following Czech athlete Jakub Vadlejch, who delivered a superb performance with a best throw of 85.86 meters on Friday.

The Indian star hailing from Khandra, who clinched the gold medal at the World Athletics Championship in Hungary earlier in the week with an impressive throw of 88.17 meters in Budapest, initiated the evening’s proceedings with an initial attempt that covered a distance of 80.79 meters. But in his sixth and final attempt he threw 85.71m to seal a second-place finish in Zurich on Friday.

Murali Sreeshankar, participating in the men’s long jump event, secured the fifth position with a leap measuring 7.99 meters.

He ultimately achieved fifth place in the competition, trailing behind Greek athlete Miltiadis Tentoglou, who secured the first position with an impressive jump spanning 8.20 meters. Tajay Gayle from Jamaica followed closely with a second-place finish, recording a jump of 8.07 meters. American jumper Jarrionn Lawson claimed third place with a leap of 8.05 meters, and Czech athlete Radek Juska attained fourth place, covering a distance of 8.04 meters.
