Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer, has quashed rumors regarding his potential foray into politics. Contrary to media speculation, Yuvraj Singh has explicitly stated that he will not be participating in the Lok Sabha elections from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab. The conjecture gained traction following his recent meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, leading to suggestions that he might join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and possibly replace actor Sunny Deol in representing the Gurdaspur constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. However, the 42-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) to dispel these rumors, affirming his commitment to serving the public through his foundation ‘YouWeCan’ and asserting that he has no intentions of entering politics.

After concluding his cricket career, the seasoned all-rounder has dedicated his efforts to the YouWeCan Foundation, concentrating on promoting cancer awareness, education, and empowerment. Yuvraj, having overcome cancer himself, has actively contributed to the development of young talent, exemplified by his mentorship of Shubman Gill. Gill, now a consistent member of the Indian team, will also assume the captaincy role for Gujarat Giants (GT) in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024.

Presently, the left-handed cricketer is participating in renowned veterans’ cricket leagues. The accomplished player, a two-time World Cup winner, is currently preparing for the upcoming Legends Cricket Trophy 2024, scheduled to commence on March 8 in Pallekele. He is set to lead the NY Superstar Strikers in the tournament.

Notable players such as Dan Christian, Jerome Taylor, Isuru Udana, and Alviro Petersen are also part of the team. In 2022, the 42-year-old played a pivotal role in India Legends’ victory in the Road Safety World Series. During the match against England Legends, the cricketer, originally from Chandigarh, delivered an impressive performance, scoring an unbeaten 31 runs off 15 balls, contributing to India Legends’ 40-run win. Although Yuvi has seen limited cricket action since then, he is scheduled to participate in a couple of tournaments in 2024.
