On Thursday (July 21), India faced the West Indies in the second and last match of the test tournament. The visitors finished the first day on 288/4. India decided to bat first, with half-centuries from starters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli remains undefeated on 87 and nearing his 76th international (and 29th Test) hundred. Surprisingly, both Rohit and Jaiswal squandered an outstanding chance to add another three-figure score to their resumes.

Both batsmen were dismissed in the second session. With Jaiswal being dismissed by Jason Holder and Jomel Warrican dismissing India’s captain on 80. Meanwhile, Jaiswal may have only scored 57 runs, but he did enough to join an elite group of Indian cricketers.

There are a handful of Indian players who began their Test career on a strong note, and Jaiswal is currently one of them, becoming the third greatest run-scorer among Indians in both of his initial Test matches.

Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved 171 runs in the previous Test and 57 runs in his opening innings in the second Test encounter. With a total of 228 runs scored in his initial two Test innings, Jaiswal has surpassed Shikhar Dhawan and hit the list of Indian cricketers with the highest runs scored in their first two Test innings.
