Earlier, the final was planned at the Lord’s. But the 5 star facilities at Southampton will make it easier to create a bio-bubble for the two teams.

“Yes, the final of W.T.C will be played at Southampton,” said Ganguly.

I will be present there during the match. Hopefully we can beat team New Zealand in the final. The New Zealand team will be reaching before us to play a couple of Test matches against England. Ganguly added.

Indian side qualified for inaugural W.T.C after beating England 3-1 in the recent Test series. The slow track of Southampton will definitely help the spinners. It will bring a good game of cricket between both the teams.

In conversation with Sourav Ganguly

  • What will you say about India’s recent test achievements? (Sourcr: T.O.I)

Was it a massive achievement? “Oh yes! What our boys have done is commendable. They have been in strict bio-bubbles and play cricket day in and day out. It is truly remarkable. Right from IPL till now. What they have achieved is fantastic.”

“We must congratulate Ajinkya for his impressive game. Captain Virat Kohli, the head coach and the support staff, everybody did a fantastic job. Also, we must nor forget Rahul Dravid, he is doing a lot of work behind the scenes.

Like always, Ganguly showed his trust on the 23-year-old Pant. He believes that Pant is a new age match finisher. He is a perfect combination of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“I have been observing the boy since the last 2 years, he has really improved on his cricketing skills. He is a player, who on his day will win you matches.

Ganguly said, he was heavily impressed with Pant’s game during the high pressure at Motera.

...and if you just look at the way he played in Ahmedabad, such a beautiful show of cricket. His sense of game while facing the 2nd new ball against Anderson, was mind-blowing.”

National Cricket Academy head Rahul Dravid, has really worked hard behind the scenes on Pant, Mohammad Siraj, Shardul Thakur, etc. His work has helped in creating a solid bench strength.

On his health, he said, “I am fit and absolutely fine. God’s been really kind to me. Back to work now,” he said.

We hope to see a good game of cricket at W.T.C between India and New Zealand.

Best of luck to team India and good health to our beloved DADA.
