World Esports Championship 2023: India’s CS:GO Team Defeats Pakistan & Nepal, Advances to Asian Qualifiers

World Esports Championship 2023: India’s Counter Strike Global Offensive (CS: GO) team showcased a brilliant performance by defeating Pakistan and Nepal and has secured a spot in the Asian qualifiers to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 10-17.

The team, led by captain Harsh Jain (f1redup), Jaspreet Singh (SpawN), Sadab Khan (SK wow^), Piyush Kalwania (clouda), Nikhil Kathe (N1kace), and substitute Omkar Thube (omkar09), comfortably defeated Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Harsh’s remarkable performance was important to India’s success and led his side by scoring 29 and 31 kills against Bangladesh and Nepal, respectively.

Harsh Jain stated after the win,

“Qualifying for the Asian qualifiers and representing India as well as the country’s CS:GO community is an incredible accomplishment for all of us,”

The Indian team will now face Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia to qualify for the 15th World Esports Championships in Iasi, Romania, from August 24 – September 4, 2023.

With a massive prize pool of Rs 4.12 crore, the tournament is expected to be the largest to date, featuring over 130 countries in multiple games, including eFootball, DOTA 2, Tekken7, Mobile Legends, PUBG: Mobile, and CS:GO. The tournament will also include prominent Tekken 7 player Abhinav Tejan and eFootball athlete Ibrahim Gulrez.

India’s first-ever female esports team (CS: GO) comprising Shagufta Iqbal (xyaa), Swayambika Sachar (Sway), Nidhi Salekar (Stormyyy), Dilraj Kaur Matharu (COCO), and Aastha Nangia (CrackShot) will be the part of South Asian Qualifiers against Sri Lanka on May 11th and Team India (DOTA) will kick start their South Asian Qualifiers from 15th May onwards.
