Team India will face archrivals Pakistan in the ODI World Cup later this year on October 15. The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially finalized the dates and released to the public last month. However, there could be a change in the schedule for one of this year’s most memorable clashes in the World Cup, India (IND) vs Pakistan (PAK).
According to an Indian Express story, the date of the India-Pakistan match might be modified since October 15 is the inaugural day of ‘Navratri,’ a holiday celebrated with night-long Garba dances, mainly in Gujarat.
According to the report, authorities asked the BCCI to delay the game because of security concerns. A source gave info to the Indian Express:
“We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri.”
Many fans have already made travel arrangements for the dates regarding the India-Pakistan match, and observations from local media have reported that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have additionally asked about the provision of beds at Ahmedabad hospitals prior to and following the night match. If the match is indeed postponed, it might turn out to be a huge logistical nightmare.
As a result, if the schedule is changed, there will probably be widespread cancellations of hotel reservations. This frustrates supporters even more. With the potential for the most important match of the group stage to be postponed, BCCI may face backlash on social media.
