Broadcasting giant, Viacom 18 has won the media rights for the inaugural women’s IPL for a period of five years after BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced it. Viacom 18 will pay INR 951 crore for the period of five years (2023 to 2027) to broadcast Women’s IPL. According to the announcement, the value of one WIPL match rate will be more than Rs 7 crore.
BCCI also released an official statement via Twitter “The BCCI is pleased to announce Viacom18 Media Private Limited as the successful bidder of Media Rights for the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) Seasons 2023-2027,”

BCCI secretary Jay Shah called this “massive” while announcing it on Twitter. He used the social media platform-Twitter to inform about the development. His tweet reads “Congratulations viacom18 for winning the Women’s IPL media rights. Thank you for your faith in BCCI and BCCIWomen. Viacom has committed INR 951 crores which means per match value of INR 7.09 crores for the next 5 years (2023-27). This is massive for Women’s Cricket,”

The BCCI will unveil the five Women IPL franchises on January 25. The Indian board has not officially released the tournament’s schedule. However, it is widely believed that the first season will have 22 matches, that will take place between March 5 and March 23.
