It was a historic moment for women’s cricket in India as the Board of Control for Cricket formally announced five teams and their owners for the inaugural edition of the Women Indian Premier League (IPL). With a huge bid of 1289 crore, the Adani Group made the biggest bid for the team from Ahmedabad.

The richest man in India won the bid to own the Ahmedabad franchise with the highest bid of Rs. 1289 CR.

MUMBAI – INDIAWIN SPORTS PVT LTD – Rs 912.99 CR

IndiaWin Sports Private Ltd won the bid for the Mumbai franchise at Rs. 912.99 CR which is the second-highest bid. This company is a 100% subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited which is owned by industrialist Mukesh Ambani.

BENGALURU – ROYAL CHALLENGERS SPORTS PVT LTD – Rs 901 CR

RCB Sports Private Limited won the bid for the Bengaluru franchise at the bidding amount of Rs. 901 CR.

DELHI – JSW GMR CRICKET PVT LTD- Rs 801 CR

GMR Sports Private Limited won the bid of Delhi for Rs 801 crores in the WPL. JSW also owns a kabaddi team and a football franchise.

LUCKNOW – CAPRI GLOBAL HOLDINGS PVT LTD – Rs 757 CR

Capri Global Holdings Private Limited (CGCL), an NBFC won the bid for Lucknow for Rs.757 cr. It is the lowest among the top 5 bidders in WIPL.
