The Ireland Cricket Board reportedly made an offer to Indian Cricketer Sanju Samson to join its team. According to some reports, the Ireland Cricket Board made an offer to Samson and also assured Samson, of a permanent spot in the team if he moved to Ireland. However, the Indian cricketer declined the offer. Samson said he would never consider playing for another nation and will always represent India.
Sanju Samson had a series of dismissals from the Indian squad in the past months. He was left out of the 2022 Asia Cup. Samson was not selected for India’s squad during the T20 World Cup in 2022. Sanju Samson was also not picked for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Despite being a member of the team for the ODI series against New Zealand, Samson was not given a single game.
Samson displayed a decent performance throughout the three-match ODI series against South Africa. With an unbeaten 86 runs, Samson did his part in getting India closer to a win in the first ODI. In the remaining two ODIs against South Africa, he scored 30 and 2 runs, respectively, where India clinched the title.
Despite his decent performances, Sanju Samson has not been a regular player of the Indian team. Fans are displeased about the exclusion. Amidst all these dismissals of Samson, the Ireland Board’s offer has been surprising. If Samson had agreed to the Ireland Board’s offer, he would have had to cut all ties with the BCCI and the Indian Premier League.
