In providing an explanation for the selection of Lord Hanuman as the mascot for the continental event, the Asian Athletics organization stated,

“As Hanuman exhibits extraordinary abilities in Rama’s service throughout the adventure, including speed, strength, courage, and wisdom, the friendship between the two develops and deepens, proving ultimately that Hanuman’s greatest ability is, in fact, his incredibly staunch loyalty and devotion. A perfect combination of strength, intelligence, and wisdom.”

The Legendary Ramayana is also well-known in many other Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, much like it is in India. The Ramayana also has a Thai adaptation, known as Ramakein.

Lord Hanuman is considered to be the spiritual offspring of Vayu, the wind god, and numerous narratives highlight Vayu’s direct involvement in Hanuman’s birth. Hanuman’s presence is referenced in several additional scriptures, including the epic Mahabharata and various Puranas.
