In a recent discussion, former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram rated Karachi Biryani higher than Hyderabadi Biryani. During a panel discussion in which Shoaib Malik was also present, Akram playfully asserted that the Biryani from his country is unbeatable. The legendary cricketer began by urging that his Indian friends not be offended by his opinion but then added that Karachi Biryani is unrivaled.

When praising Karachi Biryani, Akram mentioned that the Hyderabad variant tends to be drier, featuring colored rice and chicken or mutton pieces. The ex-fast bowler elaborated that although Malik might have enjoyed Hyderabad’s specialty more often than him, he confidently asserted that Karachi’s Biryani stands out as the best, considering various aspects. In support of Akram’s assertion, Malik humorously mentioned that the spices tend to accumulate at the bottom in Hyderabad’s Biryani, prompting both cricketers to burst into laughter.

The debate over Biryani has become the talk of the town since the arrival of Pakistan cricket team in India (Hyderabad). The Men in Green has received a warm welcome at all venues. To add to the hospitality, plenty of world-famous Hyderabad Biryani was given to the Pakistani cricketers. They have been grateful for all of the hospitality they have experienced in India thus far.

“Babar Biryani kaisa tha (How was the Biryani?),” asked Ravi Shastri.

“I’ve already told 100 times. It was good, I had heard that Hyderabad’s Biryani is good and we loved it,” replied Babar.

The Men in Green move into the tournament after losing both their warm-up fixtures. The team has two games, against Netherlands and Sri Lanka before the high voltage encounter against team India on 14th October.
