Several riders and team members set to participate in the first MotoGP Bharat Race event in India, including the six-time champion Marc Marquez, are currently in the process of securing their visas for the upcoming race this weekend. Sources in Repsol Honda Team confirmed to PTI that the arrival of their riders, Marquez and Joan Mir, has been postponed due to visa complications. Originally, both Spanish drivers had plans to attend a promotional event near Delhi on Wednesday, but regrettably, that visit has now been canceled.

Dorna Sports serves as the event organizers and holds the event rights, while Fairstreet Sports acts as the event’s local promoters. According to insiders at Fairstreet, they informed PTI that there was a need to apply for approximately 1800 visas for personnel working in the paddock. However, a technical issue within the visa application system resulted in a delay. Nonetheless, sources indicated that as of Tuesday, the majority of the visas have been granted, with only a few remaining pending due to incomplete documentation.

India is organizing an event of this scale for the first time since the Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix, which ceased to exist after the 2013 season due to financial, taxation, and administrative complications. Dorna and Fairstreet have entered into a seven-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the race in India, but the fate of the event largely hinges on the outcome of this weekend.
