Indian cricketer Virat Kohli earned $2.9 million in pay and $31 million in endorsements for a total of $33.9 million. This is about $20 million less than the highest paid Asian athlete. Only two Asian athletes make enough money to rank among the top 100 athletes in the globe. The sole Indian in the top 100 best paid athletes in 2022 is Virat Kohli, the most well-known and wealthy athlete in India.
According to Sportico’s ranking of the Top 100 most paid sportsmen for 2022, Kohli, who has an estimated worth of over Rs 1,000 crore, is ranked 61.
The Indian national cricket squad’s star player, who also plays for IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore, earned $2.9 million in salary and prizes and $31 million in endorsements.
He is estimated to have made $33.9 million in total. Kohli fell two spots from his 2021 rank of 59. Obviously, Kohli earns the most money of any cricketer in the entire globe.
The sole sportster representing Asia on the list, other than Kohli, is Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka. The 25-year-old has claimed four grand slams in her career, including two US Open and two Australian Open titles. On a list that is heavily populated by athletes from the US and Europe, Osaka is the highest-ranking Asian at number 20.
Osaka is thought to have made a total of $53.2 million in profits, of which just $1.2 million came through victories and a stunning $52 million from sponsorships. She fell five positions from her 2021 position of fifteen.
