Indian skipper Virat Kohli became the country’s most successful Test captain after the Men in Blue thumped West Indies by 257 runs in the second match of series in Jamaica on Monday.
India entered the fourth day looking for eight West Indian wickets and executed the job just after lunch. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets apiece to help India clinch the series 2-0. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah was also in fine form, securing an excellent hat trick.
As a result of the comfortable victory, Kohli became the most successful skipper of India. The 30-year-old has now won 28 from 48 matches in his 5 years tenure as a captain. He overtakes MS Dhoni, his predecessor, who had 27 victories from 60 Test games.

Since Kohli was unveiled as the permanent captain of the Indian Test team back in 2015. Since then, the side has gone on to win some memorable Test series, both in India as well as abroad. At the top of that list would most probably be this year’s 2-1 Test series victory in Australia. It was for the first time that India won a series against the Aussies in their own backyard.
The 2-0 series win also means that the Men in Blue make a great start in the World Test Championship. India is currently placed at the top of the table with 120 points.
MS Dhoni is followed by former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly who in the list for most Test victories. The Prince of Bengal has won 21 followed by Mohammad Azharuddin who has 14 wins to his name and is placed fourth on the list.
On a global perspective, however, the record for the most International cricket Test victories belongs to Graeme Smith. The South African great has won in the white jersey on 53 occasions. He is followed by Australian legend Ricky Ponting, who has won 48.
