UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Sachin Tendulkar Visits Sri Lanka Schools

As UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador, Indian cricket star Sachin Tendulkar attended two schools in Sri Lanka on Monday and was witnessed talking to kids. Tendulkar was named UNICEF Ambassador for South Asia in 2013 to promote proper sanitation and hygiene practices in the area. On Monday, he visited chosen schools in the southern Sabaragamuwa province’s Kegalle district.

Tendulkar, 50, toured two schools where he spoke with elementary school children and high school students and played cricket with squads made up of male and female pupils.

When the renowned cricketer attended a preschool in the area, provincial governor Navin Dissanayake stated he had an engaging discussion.

Dissanayake stated on the social media,

“Appreciate his time and great humanity in undertaking this cause on behalf of the Sabaragamuva province.”

The regional goodwill ambassador Tendulkar is scheduled to attend a function on Tuesday at Cinnamon Lakeside in Colombo.

The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of how the COVID-19 outbreak and the ensuing economic crisis have affected children’s lives in the area.

Tendulkar, who is regarded as one of the finest cricket batters of history, has been involved with UNICEF for over a decade for a number of reasons. As stated by UNICEF, he was chosen to assume the helm of the drive to raise awareness and encourage polio prevention in India in 2003.
