U Mumba might not have played to their potential in the last few seasons, but they are one of the best defenses in the league. The 2015 Champions of the Pro Kabaddi League have always been blessed with superstar defenders like Surender Nada, Mohit Chillar and the current captain, Fazel Atrachali. So it should come as no surprise that the Mumbai-based team holds of most of the defensive records in the league. Here are 7 U Mumba records that are difficult to beat:
7First Team to 3 Consecutive Final
U Mumba was the best team in the league for the first few seasons. They finished runner-ups in the first season but quickly made up for that with a title in the second season. And with yet another final in the third season, Mumbai became the first team to reach three consecutive finals in PKL – And they did it in the first three seasons itself.
The Mumbai based franchise has inflicted second most all-outs in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. U Mumba has 145 all-outs to their name in 107 games while Patna Pirates lead the way with 165 all-outs in 112 games.
Not only that, but Mumbai team has also done well to not concede all-outs, being the team with second least all outs conceded (From 8 Founding Teams). Mumbai has conceded 118 all-outs in the PKL history, just eight more than Telugu Titans, who have conceded the least all-outs.
5Most successful Tackles
Let us start with exceptional defensive records now. Mumbai might have won only one title way back in 2015 but their defense has hardly let them down even after that. In team’s 107 matches so far, Mumbai has made 1048 successful tackles, most by any team in the history of Pro Kabaddi league.
Patna Pirates is behind them with 1008 tackles in 112 games so far.
4Most Tackle Points
It should come as no surprise that a team with most tackles in the Pro Kabaddi League history is also the team with most tackle points in total. U Mumba has won 1134 tackle points so far while Patna Pirates are second with 1112 points.
3Least Points Conceded
This is a testimony to what the best defense really is – Least points conceded by a team in six seasons so far. And despite winning the league just once, their defense has been rock solid every season. The Mumbai-based team has conceded just 3169 points in 107 games, least by a team founded in 2014. Patna Pirates, the three-time Champions are second on this list as well with 3237 points in 112 matches.
