Commencing the game on a positive note, the Indian badminton players took an early lead of 8-5. However, the Chinese pair managed to gain a slight advantage, heading into the break with an 11-10 lead. Despite Jolly and Gopichand briefly reclaiming the lead at 15-14, they faced a setback, conceding seven out of the next eight points and ultimately losing the first game. In the second game, Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min continued their momentum, building on an initial 8-6 lead to dominate with a 12-6 advantage, securing the match comfortably. This outcome signaled the end of India’s journey in the German Open.

Jolly and Gopichand faced setbacks at the Thailand Open in February, experiencing an early exit. Their year commenced with a first-round departure at the India Open. Despite these challenges, they played a crucial role in securing a historic gold medal for the Indian women’s team at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships in Busan last month.
