Indian athlete Parul Chaudhary claimed victory in the women’s 3000m steeplechase at the esteemed Track Night NYC event held in New York. The 28-year-old athlete clocked an impressive time of 9:41.88s, finishing over 20 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, Madeline Strandemo. Madeline finished with a time of 10:02.48s.
Chaudhary’s strategic approach to the race saw her start off steadily, securing the second position after the first lap with a time of 2:00.64. However, she quickly accelerated in the second lap, clocking an impressive time of 1:15.48s and taking the lead. From there on, there was no looking back as she cruised to a comfortable victory.
The competition also witnessed noteworthy performances by other Indian athletes like Lili Das. Das secured a commendable third place finish in the women’s 1500m event, recording her season-best time of 4:15.23s. In the men’s 1500m event, Ajay Kumar impressed with a time of 3:41.28s, securing the eighth position.
Unfortunately, Shankar Lal Swami, competing in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, was unable to complete the race, dropping out with two laps to go. Additionally, Parvej Khan did not start the men’s 1500m open race.
