Team India to Leave for WTC Final in 3 Batches | Practice Game on the Cards

Highly anticipated WTC 2023 final between Team India and Australia, recent developments have shed light on the team’s preparations. The BCCI is contemplating a plan to dispatch the Indian team to England in three distinct groups, allowing ample time for their assembly ahead of the tournament. Furthermore, there are discussions surrounding the possibility of arranging a practice match to aid the team in acclimatizing to the playing conditions in England.

As per reports from Cricbuzz, it has been indicated that the first group of players may embark on their journey to England immediately following the culmination of the IPL 2023. This batch will comprise players from teams that do not qualify for the IPL playoffs. The anticipated departure date for the first batch has been noted as May 23.

Following the IPL Qualifiers, players from teams that make it to the playoffs but do not reach the final are set to depart for England. Their departure is expected to occur on either May 23 or 24. The final group of players will commence their journey on May 30, right after the IPL 2023 final concludes at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on May 28.

Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Shardul Thakur are expected to be included in the initial group of players, departing in the first batch. Additionally, Mukesh Kumar, who is part of the standby list of players, will also join them in traveling to the UK immediately after the conclusion of the IPL’s league phase.

Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat are currently undergoing recovery for their injuries, and the BCCI is closely monitoring their progress. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat, Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ruturaj Gaikwad are expected to depart in the second and third batches, depending on the performance of their respective teams in the IPL playoffs.
