Ramkumar Ramanathan alongside Miguel Angel advanced to the double’s quarterfinals at the fifth edition of the Tata Open Maharashtra. They defeated the pair of Rohan Bopanna and Botic van de Zandschulp by 7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), and 11-9 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune on Tuesday.
The Indo-Mexican duo produced a tremendous performance against the strong pair which included two-time champion Indian tennis ace player Bopanna.
This thrilling match saw tough competition from both sides. The two sets were decided into the tiebreakers before Ramkumar, and Reyes-Varela change the face of the match in their favor in the final tie-breaker.
The duo will now compete against three-time Grand Slam champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.
On the other hand, N. Sriram Balaji and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, also thorough to the Round-of-8 after defeating Purav Raja and Divij Sharan.
Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni got defeated by the French pair of Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 7-6 (1), 5-7, 7-10.
This ongoing ATP 250 event is being conducted by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) in association with the Government of Maharashtra in Pune.
