Indian doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty cruised into the semi-finals of the Swiss Open Super Series 300 badminton event after defeating the Danish pair of Jeppe Bay and Lasse Molhede in three hard-fought games. The Satwiksairaj-Chirag pair fought off the challenge in 54 minutes, winning 15-21, 21-11, and 21-14 to enter the semi-finals on Friday night.
The duo won after a hard-fought 84-minute quarter-final battle. The Indian pair will now clash against the Malaysian pair of Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi late on Saturday night.
Satwiksairaj and Chirag are the sole Indian contenders left in a tournament after PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen were handed early defeats. The Satwiksairaj-Chirag pair didn’t have a great beginning as they suffered a defeat in the first game at 15-21. The duo buckled up from the second game.
In the third game, they were fantastic as they first got an 11-7 lead and then maintained a seven-point advantage till the end of the match.
