Suryakumar’s innings proved pivotal in India’s victory, which also revitalized their hopes of clinching the 5-match series. In the course of his pivotal innings, Suryakumar also reached a milestone of 100 sixes in T20I cricket, establishing himself as the quickest Indian player to reach this significant achievement.
During the game’s pursuit of a target of 160 runs, Suryakumar displayed his classic form, delivering a remarkable performance by scoring 83 runs off 44 deliveries. This included an impressive count of 10 boundaries and four sixes. His scoring rate during this innings exceeded 188.
Notably, Suryakumar achieved this feat in only 49 innings, solidifying his position as the quickest Indian player to attain such a milestone. The record for the swiftest accumulation of 100 sixes in T20 Internationals, on the other hand, is held by Evin Lewis, a batsman from the West Indies.
Suryakumar surpassed Shikhar Dhawan in the list of India’s highest run-scorers in T20I cricket, securing the fourth position. Across 51 T20Is and 49 innings, he has achieved a total of 1,780 runs with an impressive average of 45.64. His record comprises of three centuries and 14 half-centuries, with his highest individual score being 117. Notably, he has maintained a strike rate exceeding 174.
