Kidambi Srikanth is an Indian badminton player hailing from the Guntur region of Andhra Pradesh. Currently, he is among the best male Indian players, evident in him being consistently ranked in the top 10. In fact, he was ranked at No. 1 in April earlier this year. He was the highest prize money winner in 2017, eclipsing even Lee Chong Wei and Tai Tzu Ying. Kidambi has won plenty of honors for India, including Gold Coast Gold (mixed event), Silver in the same competition’s singles event among plenty of BWF titles. He is coached by the legendary coach, G. Pullela.

Srikanth is among the richest badminton players around, and quite understandably so, considering he was World No. 1 earlier this year and has been consistently in the top 10. The main source of income for him was the cash prize from respective tournaments he won, cash awards by BAI, PBL among other sources like brand endorsements.

According to BWF’s official website, Kidambi has total earnings over $ 419,478 ( ₹3.08 cr.) over his career and approximately $ 26,725 ( ₹19,6 lakhs) in 2018 so far. He also featured at #83 in the Forbes Magazine list, where his earnings for the year 2017 were reported to be ₹ 6.13 cr. Recently, Bengaluru Raptors bought Kidambi for ₹80 lakhs in the Premier Badminton League.

Family

Srikanth Nammalwar Kidambi was born in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur region on 7 February 1993 to a Telugu speaking family. KVS Krishna, his father, is a landlord. His mother, Radha Kidambi is a house-wife. Srikanth also has an elder brother, K. Nandagopal, who is also a badminton player. He is unmarried as of yet.
