The union minister of youth affairs and sports on Tuesday said that the ministry has released 6,801.3 crore rupees in the last five years. Thakur replied this in Lok Sabha. Anurag Thakur said in a written reply “Funds are allocated Scheme-wise, not State/UT-wise. During the last five years, a sum of Rs 7,072.28 crore was allocated and a sum of Rs 6,801.30 crore was released under the various sports development schemes of this Ministry”.-- Advertisement --
Anurag Thakur took over Kiren Rijiju as minister of youth affairs and sports in July 2021.
The ministry of youth affairs and sports aims to run successfully the following schemes under their policies. The ministry is also developing the sports of India at the village level.
Some of the schemes are
- Khelo India Scheme
- Running sports training centers through Sports Authority of India
- National sports development fund
- Assistance to National Sports Federations
- National Sports Awards and many more.
Sports is the subject of States, it rests on the States/UT governments to primarily focus on the masses till the village levels. The central government will supplement their efforts.-- Advertisement --
