With a right set of preparations, World and Olympics Silver Medalist PV Sindhu is all set to target for BWF Tour Finals title, in China from next week.

This season proved to be hectic yet with no titles for Sindhu. The season, however, still has one more tournament left and the Indian shuttler is ready to lay her hands on her first winner trophy.

Come December 12, the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals will kick off in Guangzhou, China. The BWF rule compels top-15 singles players to take part in at least 12 tournaments.  The top-eight performers of the year qualify for this event.

In preparation for one of the biggest tournaments of the year, the Rio Olympic silver medallist even skipped the recent Syed Modi International Championship in Lucknow.

Asked about her preparation, she said: “This is the third (consecutive) time that I have qualified for the event. I know it is not going to be easy. I will have to give my 100 per cent. I reached the semis the first time. Then I made it to the final last year. Hopefully, I can win the title this time around.”

India will also witness the representation from Sameer Verma in the men’s singles event.

At the launch of her Premier Badminton League team, Hyderabad Hunters, Sindhu said to TOI, “This would be my third time at the finals. The first time I reached the semis, the second time I reached the finals and now I want to win the title. There is no pressure; it’s just like any other tournament for me.”

Sindhu is equally excited to lead and play for her PBL team, Hyderabad Hunters. She said, “I am excited to be a part of a Hyderabad based team. We will be starting our campaign against Pune team lead by Carolina Marin. Hunters have never lost their first match and I hope it remains like that.”

Premier Badminton League is also set to kick off from December 22 in Mumbai.

Hyderabad Hunters’ owner VRK Rao is also excited about Sindhu joining the team. He stated, “We’ve now got the darling of Indian badminton Sindhu and we are more confident to retain the title. We are also conducting Let’s Shuttle corporate badminton from December 7 to 9 as a runup to this event.”
