Young India cricketer Shubman Gill is set to script history by lending his voice to the Indian version of the popular Hollywood character Spider-Man. Gill, who plays for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will voice Pavitr Prabhakar in the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the movie ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’.
The Sony Pictures India took to Twitter to drop the news of Gill lending his voice to the character of Spider-Man with rather an exceptional way. They wrote,
“Shub-Man is now Spider-Man! Thrilled to have the talented @ShubmanGill as the voice of our very own – Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse. Trailer dropping soon! Get ready for some web-slinging action!”

The Indian cinemas will release the movie on June 2, 2023. Gill has been in great form in the IPL, recently playing an unbeaten knock of 94 runs to help his team secure a victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Gill’s teammate Wriddiman Saha also played a vital role in the win, scoring 81 runs off 43 balls. The Gujarat Titans have been in excellent form in the IPL 2023 and this win marked their fifth victory in the tournament. While Lucknow Super Giants‘ openers Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers got off to a good start, their middle-order crumbled and they fell short of the target.
Gill’s contribution to the upcoming Spider-Man movie will mark a significant milestone for Indian cricket and the entertainment industry.
