Shubman Gill became the fastest Indian cricketer to score 1000 ODI runs in terms of innings (19). Shubman Gill knocked a double-century in India’s first match against New Zealand of the three-match series at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. With a phenomenal knock of 208 off 149 deliveries, Shubman Gill smashed the record held by batters Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan to reach 1000-ODI runs (fastest).

Shubman Gill smashed a double century and India registered a 349 for eight in the first ODI against New Zealand. Gill batted through the innings with not much support from the other end.

Skipper Rohit Sharma‘s 34 runs off 38 deliveries was the second-best score of the innings. Shubman Gill smashed 19 fours and nine sixes. Gill’s maiden double-century was also his second successive three-digit score.
Meanwhile, Team India won the match against New Zealand by 12 runs to lead the series by 1-0. The star performer Shubman Gill was honored with the Player of the Match award for his double century.
