After a tough loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL playoffs, Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer is still holding his head high and looking ahead. This was their first playoff appearance since 2014, but things didn&#8217;t go as hoped. They struggled at their home ground in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maharaja_Yadavindra_Singh_International_Cricket_Stadium">Mullanpur</a> on May 29, scoring only 101 runs in 14.1 overs. He acknowledged that losing wickets early was a big blow and mentioned the need for the team to reflect and improve.

When Iyer was asked about the team’s game plan and their choices, he remained confident. He mentioned he was sure about the preparations leading up to the match and felt they had everything in place. “Everything we did in terms of planning—off the field—was right on target. The issue was that we couldn&#8217;t carry it out during the match,” he said. He also stood by the bowlers, explaining that defending a score as low as 101 meant they had very little room for mistakes.
Iyer spoke about the tough conditions at Mullanpur but didn’t want to blame the tricky pitch. He acknowledged that the pitch had been unpredictable throughout the season but emphasized that the batters needed to adjust. “We’re professionals, after all… we have to play according to what the situation demands,” he remarked.
He wrapped up his thoughts with determination, expressing that the team will come back stronger. “We’ve lost this battle, but we haven’t lost the war,” Iyer stated, showing his commitment to lead the Punjab Kings with fresh energy in the future.
