Hailing from Delhi, Shikhar Dhawan was born on 5 December in 1985. The Punjabi Jat was a talented enough at a very young age to make it to both U-17 and U-19 Indian teams before getting into the Delhi squad in 2004. The presence of Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir for the opening slot hindered his chances to make to the Indian team early in career. However, when the opportunity finally arrived in 2010 against Australia, he failed badly, departing without even opening the account. It took him more than three years to get his next chance when he debuted against Australia in the test side in 2013. He had a lot to prove, and it all came out just in the right fashion. Dhawan smashed 187 on 174 balls. This was followed by a series of stellar performances in England, helping India claim the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Shikhar has more or less cemented his place in the Indian squad after becoming the highest Indian scorer in the ICC World Cup 2015 and ICC Champions Trophy 2017. He is the man to look up to in the ICC Tournaments so far. Apart from the international scene, the southpaw is one of the most consistent performers in the IPL as well. He helped his team Sunrisers Hyderabad to its maiden title in 2016. On the back of these stellar numbers and ‘dabang’ attitude on the field, Dhawan has been able to make a fortune from endorsement deals, salary and winnings. Managed by Kwan entertainment since August 2018, Shikhar Dhawan has made giant leaps in his net worth.
