Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal has successfully made into the quarterfinals of the PSA World Squash Championship after beating his opponent Joel Makin in a neck to neck clash.
Though 11th seeded Saurav won the match by 11-13, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11, he did not succeed easily. His unseeded opponent fought in a favourable way for every point.

Saurav has previously defeated Makin in the CCI International in Mumbai, 2017. But this time, Saurav’s opponent from Wales showed great improvement and emerged as a tough competitor.

Makin vs Saurav Ghosal: As it happened
Makin won the first game against Saurav. The Indian then raised his performance bar and played his best to be able to snatch the next two.
The fourth match was a tough fight between the two players. Saurav went down 5-8 when Makin attempted to win over. But the game fell in the hands of the experienced Indian as he got back and earned three match balls thus leading to his victory.

It is the second time when Saurav has reached the last eight, after 2013. Next, he will play against the third seed German, Simon Rosner.

Saurav Ghosal’s incredible success journey so far
Saurav played squash at the Kolkata Racquet Club in his hometown. Later, he moved to Chennai and joined the ICL Squash Academy where he was coached by retired Major Maniam and Cyrus Poncha. Since then, the champion has never looked back.
Kolkata-born Saurav reached his career-high world ranking No. 11 in October 2018.

Saurav is one of the strongest reasons that India looks at squash as a potential medal winning sport at the Olympic or any international event.
