For Chaudhary and Bhaker, it was their fifth World Cup mixed team gold medal.
The Iranian pair began the match excellently, but once the Indian pair overcame their early troubles, they were unstoppable. The Indians lived up to the expectations by claiming the top prize.
Another Indian shooting pair, Yashaswini Singh Deswal, and Abhishek Verma grabbed the bronze medal in the same event. They beat Turkey’s Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Ismail Keles 17-13 at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
The Indians began the gold medal match on an unexpected note. The pair of Chaudhary and Bhaker conceded a 2-0 lead in the first series. It was doubled by their Iranian rivals (4-0) by the end of the next series.
However, the Indians got back their rhythm very soon and performed like they are normally expected to. The Indian pair then won three series in a row. It turned a 6-10 deficit into a 12-10 lead.
The Indian pair stood second in the qualification round with a total of 384.
A very congratulations! to the entire shooting team of India for such an amazing victory. The Indian shooters never stop making the nation proud. You all did it once again.
Team #KreedOn extends heartiest well wishes to the entire squad #Jaihind
