Satwik, who successfully won the Indonesia Open Super 1000 with partner Chirag Shetty, thereby broke a decade-long milestone established in May 2013 by Malaysian Tan Boon Heong. She generated an estimated speed of 493 km/h (306.34 mph) with his smash.

Satwik’s hitting was better than a Formula 1 car’s speed of 372.6 km/h. Tan Pearly of Malaysia achieved the Guinness World Record for the fastest female badminton smash at 438 km/h (approximately 272 mph). The Japanese sports equipment manufacturing company stated:

”Yonex is proud to announce that Yonex badminton athletes, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (IND) and Tan Pearly (MAS), have set new Guinness world records title for the fastest male and female badminton hits.”

Because the earlier Guinness world record for the fastest badminton smash was set in May 2013, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy beat the mark for the first time in almost a decade. Satwik’s smash took place under supervised conditions in the Yonex Factory gymnasium in Soka, Saitama, Japan.
