Sachin was born in Mumbai on April 24, 1973 in a Maharashtrian family. His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a well-known Marathi novelist. His mother, Rajni, worked in the insurance industry. Tendulkar got his name from his father’s most favourite music director – Sachin Dev Burman. Sachin was introduced to cricket at 11. SRT became the country’s youngest Test cricketer aged 16. In 1995, at the age of 22, Tendulkar married Anjali, a paediatrician. They are blessed with two children, Sara and Arjun.

The house is specially designed keeping in mind Sachin’s passion for cars and it provides a parking space for 45-50 cars. He also owns two properties in Pune. Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’ book by Boria Majumdar and Sachin Tendulkar and published by Hachette India was released on in 2014. This book broke all records for a volume across both fiction and non-fiction categories with more than 1,50,289 copies confirmed on order subscriptions. It was entered in Limca Book of Records for 2016.

Sachin has sponsored more than 200 underprivileged children every year through Apnalaya, a Mumbai-based NGO associated with his mother-in-law, Annabel Mehta. He once helped to raise Rs 7 crore in a campaign– for the creation of basic facilities, particularly toilets for girl students, in 140 government schools across the country. He was the brand ambassador for ‘Support My School’ campaign, which works towards the development of sanitation, water and infrastructure in Indian schools.

Sachin, in his crusade against cancer, has turned down endorsements deals with Alcohol and Tobacco brands worth Rs 26 crore. Once he made a request for donation and this request raised Rs 1.02 crore for the Crusade against Cancer foundation.  He regularly organises eye donation and eye camps across the country. Being a Rajya Sabha MP, Sachin was strongly backed the idea of pension and coaching jobs for retired sportspersons.
