Ruturaj Gaikwad surpasses King Kohli, goes 2nd on highest individual score by an Indian Batsman in T20Is

The emerging talent from Team India, Ruturaj Gaikwad, achieved a remarkable milestone by securing his maiden international century during the third T20I match between India and Australia at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on November 28 (Tuesday). Gaikwad reached his century in 52 balls, concluding the Indian innings with a six in the 20th over. This notable feat propelled him to the second-highest position in T20 International scores for India, surpassing Virat Kohli and trailing only behind Shubman Gill.

It’s important to note that Gaikwad’s previous highest score was limited to 71 before today’s remarkable performance. He entered the international scene in 2021, achieving the distinction of being the first Indian to record a T20I century against the formidable Australian team. The right-handed batsman has since accumulated five centuries in T20 cricket, including one during the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) season while representing the Chennai Super Kings. Additionally, Gaikwad has notched up three centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a 20-over domestic tournament, playing for Maharashtra.
