Ruhul Kuddus Purkait is Bengal’s one of the prominent footballers who has been representing United Sports for the last eight years. The defender has already earned appreciation from the Belgian coach of United Sports Steve Herbots for his correctness, physical strength, and accuracy in the air while going for the header and ball-sense.
The Beginning of Ruhul
The 23-year-old defender, Ruhul Kuddus, hails from a village in South 24 Parganas, named Purushottompur. It takes around four and a half hours from his home to the practice ground, up and down. Ruhul’s father is a farmer who manages to earn somehow from cultivating paddy and guava. Ruhul Kuddus also used to help his father in cultivating paddy often in his early days.
Ruhul Kuddus initially used to play football in the locality before going to one of Kolkata’s renowned football coaching centers Avenue Sammilani to learn the basics under the coach Tapanjyoti Mitra. Then he developed his basics under another experienced coach Debraj Chakrabarty and joined United Sports eight years ago.
Ruhul paid extreme gratitude to United Sports Club director Nabab Bhattacharya. He commented,
“I would not have survived as a professional footballer if Nabab sir had not tendered all kinds of support. Whenever I needed any kind of financial help he stood by me. Even last year I had to undergo an ACL operation. Nabab sir bore all the expenses.”
Ruhul is in search of a job. His father has been suffering from chronic diseases and cannot go to the field every day for cultivation. Ruhul said,
“If I get a job then I can contribute to my family and ask my father to take rest. Simultaneously, I am aiming to perform in the ongoing I-League qualifiers so that I get an offer from any big club. My financial crunch will be solved to some extent.”
