Early Life and Background
Hi father has been a huge motivation for him. Being a kabaddi player himself, his guidance has proven to be unparalleled for him. His father is employed with the Delhi Police. On the basis of his kabaddi achievements, Rohit Kumar joined the Indian Navy through sports quota in 2009.
“We were just kids when senior players like Manjeet Chhillar and Rakesh Kumar used to train in Nizampur. They used to teach the junior players the basics of the game. Seeing them excel in the sport gave me the confidence to achieve something similar in the world of kabaddi,” Rohit was quoted by Sportskeeda.

Journey
In 2016, Rohit made his Indian National Team debut at the 2016 South Asian Games. He showcased superior talent and won the gold medal for the country. His talent impressed one and all. He was part of the 2018 Kabaddi Masters Dubai squad as well.
Pro Kabaddi League

His Pro Kabaddi League journey started in 2014. He missed out on the first two seasons but made an impressive debut in the third one. He played for Patna Pirates then and was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player when his team won the title. In the fourth season of the league, he was signed by the Bengaluru Bulls. Since then he has stayed with the Bengaluru team. He was retained by the franchise for a record amount of INR 81 lakh in the fourth season. In the sixth edition of the league, he ably captained the side.

- Rohit is a big fan of Akshay Kumar. When he moved to Mumbai, he was extremely happy to be close to his idol. He finally met Akshay Kumar in July 2017 and it was the most special day of his life! His love for the star is so famous that he is fondly called as Akki by his friends and family.

“He has been my idol for a long time now. The amount of hard work he has done to achieve these great heights in the film industry is extraordinary. He had no family relations in the film industry before joining it, he had his struggles and he overcame all that with his hard work. I try to emulate that whenever I am on the mat playing kabaddi, though I have not met him in person yet,” he was quoted by Sportskeeda.

Rohit was married to his late wife Lalita from 2012-2016. Unfortunately, in the year 2016, she committed suicide. Kumar and his parents were blamed for the suicide as per a note left by his wife. Apparently, Lalita had also left some audio recordings blaming Rohit and his family for dowry torture. Rohit and his father were arrested and later released on bail. Rohit maintained the stand that he was innocent and readily cooperated with the police in the investigation.
