Recently, Rohan Bopanna, the newly crowned Australian Open men’s doubles champion and current ATP men’s doubles rankings leader, paid a visit to the esteemed Prime Minister of the Nation, Shri Narendra Modi, following his historic victory in Australia. Bopanna, alongside his doubles partner Matthew Ebden, made history by securing the top honors at the first Grand Slam event of the year. They claimed the men’s doubles title with a decisive 7-6, 7-5 victory in straight sets over Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in the final. This triumph marked Bopanna’s inaugural major title in his extensive career and coincided with his attainment of the top ranking in the men’s doubles category. Their journey to victory included an opening-round win against James Duckworth and Marc Polmans with a 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 score, followed by a dominant 6-2, 6-4 performance against John Millman and Edward Winter in the second round.
They advanced to the Australian Open final after securing a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 victory against Zhang Zhizhen and Tomas Machac in the semifinals. They went on to claim the championship in the ultimate showdown at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday.
