The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise, despite its ongoing quest for a first title, has consistently remained a fan favorite since its establishment in 2008. Recently, the renowned Indian Premier League (IPL) team achieved a significant recognition. They secured the prestigious ‘Sports Franchise of the Year Award’ at the CII Sports Business Awards 2023.
This accolade, presented by the CII Sports Business Awards, acknowledges notable contributions by individuals or teams to the sports landscape in India. Rajesh V Menon, the head of cricketing operations for RCB, accepted the award on behalf of the franchise. The exciting announcement was shared through RCB’s official social media handle on ‘X’. They also extended congratulations to other cricketing achievers.

Jay Shah, the Secretary of BCCI and the head of the ACC, was honored with the title of Sports Business Leader of the Year – Male. Simultaneously, Mrs. Nita Ambani, the owner of the Mumbai Indians, received the Sports Business Leader of the Year – Female award. Parth Jindal’s JSW Sports, the joint-owners of the Delhi Capitals (DC) IPL franchise, were acknowledged with the Best Organisation Investing in Sports award at the CII Sports Business Awards 2023.
The jury for these awards included Abhinav Bindra, Michelle Wade, Abhishek Binaykia, Nic Coward, and Aahna Mehrotra. United Spirits, chaired by Prathmesh Mishra, owns Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), with Faf du Plessis as the current captain. Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower serves as the coach. Mo Bobat holds the position of Director of Cricket for the franchise.
