After he was reappointed as Indian cricket team’s head coach, Ravi Shastri is expected to get a significant hike on his remuneration. According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the CTC of the head coach will see a massive 20% rise.
This will take his annual package approximately between ₹ 9.5 crores and ₹ 10 crores. In his previous contract, he was drawing somewhere around ₹ 8 crore. Moreover, the support staff will also be getting a significant hike.
Bharat Arun, who was earlier retained as the bowling coach, is predicted to receive about ₹ 3.5 crore. The fielding coach R Sridhar will receive a similar amount along with fellow fielding coach R Sridhar.
Vikram Rathour, the new batting coach who replaced Sanjay Bangar, will get between ₹2.5 crore to ₹3 crore. The proposed contracts will come into effect from September 1.
After the announcement of his reappointment, Shastri had outlined his ambitions as well as the his immediate goals with the national team.
“The reason why I came in here is the belief I had in this team, the belief that they could leave a legacy which very few teams have left behind which other teams going down will try and emulate,” he told BCCI after his appointment.
“Next two years is to see the smooth transition happening. You will get a lot of youngsters coming — in both white-ball setup and Tests. You need to identify another three-four bowlers to add to the pool by the end of our tenure. My endeavour by the end of this tenure would be to leave the team in a happier space so that they can set a legacy in the time to come,” Shastri further added.
“You’ve got to learn from your mistakes; nobody is perfect. When you strive for excellence and strive to raise the bar, then you have to pay attention to detail,” he said.
