Rashid Khan will donate his entire World Cup 2023 fees to earthquake victims of Afghanistan

In a recent statement shared on social media, Rashid Khan expressed his unwavering commitment to support the victims of a severe earthquake in Afghanistan that occurred on Sunday, October 8th. According to official reports, this destructive earthquake registered a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale and originated approximately 40 kilometers west of Herat city, located within the western Herat province.

More than 2,000 fatalities have been reported, with over 1,000 individuals suffering injuries. Upon becoming aware of the dire situation in his homeland, renowned leg-spinner Rashid Khan, currently in India for the ODI World Cup, took to his ‘X’ and Instagram profiles to announce his intention to contribute his entire match earnings from the prestigious tournament to aid the earthquake victims in his country. Additionally, Rashid expressed his commitment to initiate a fundraising initiative aimed at assisting the Afghan population.

On Wednesday, October 11, Afghanistan is scheduled to face India at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Afghanistan initiated their journey in the 2023 ODI World Cup with a match against Bangladesh, where Hashmatullah Shahidi and his team experienced a one-sided contest, ultimately losing by six wickets to the formidable ‘Bangla Tigers.’
