Ranji Trophy 2018-19, Round 9, Day 2: Rajasthan Wins against Tripura

With the spectacular display of their bowlers, Rajasthan defeated Tripura by innings and 77 runs in the four-day match of the Group C at the Ranji Trophy, on Tuesday.

The Match: Rajasthan vs Tripura

In the match played at the Maharaja Beer Bikram College Stadium, Rajasthan, on the first day, Tripura’s team was bowled out for just 35 runs in the first innings. Rajasthan displayed brilliant bowling as Aniket Chaudhary took 5 wickets and Tanveer Mushrat al-Haq contributed with 3 wickets to bowl-out Tripura on 35 runs. After that, Rajasthan in their first innings scored 218 and took a lead of 183 runs.

 

Once again bowlers of Rajasthan displayed their brilliance to bowl-out Tripura on 106 runs in second innings. With this Rajasthan won the match on the second day itself with an innings and 77 runs.

In the second innings, Deepak Chahar picked up five wickets for Rajasthan. Apart from this, Tanvir and Aniket took two wickets each. Rajasthan wrapped the match before the lunch break on Day 2.

Aniket received the Player of the Match award for excellent bowling in both innings. This is Rajasthan’s 7th victory in 9 matches. Two matches are drawn out of these 9 matches.

In the Elite Group C, Rajasthan is at the top position with 51 points and has made it to the quarter-finals. Other teams in this group are Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Services, Haryana, Tripura and Goa.

Some important stats from Round 9, Day 2

Punjab’s Shubham Gill completed his 1,000 runs in first-class cricket. He reached the milestone when he was batting on 10* runs. Shubman Gill falls short of a century. He was caught on 91 by Sudip Chatterjee against Mukesh Kumar’s bowling.

Manipur’s Priyojit and Bishworjit both got fifers and they restricted Bihar to 257 all out which leads by 10 1 runs.

Himachal batsman Ankit Kalsi (101) scored a century against Kerala on the second day at Nadaun in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
