The Hard Times

Puja Karmakar was one of the key members of East Bengal last season. The team will play the IWL this year. Still, Puja was forced to leave the red-and-gold brigade as she stated,

“In the women’s league, I continuously played as a defensive midfielder, a position I am unused to. The coach did not like me anyway. I do not know the reason. So I knew I would not be playing in IWL if I continued with East Bengal. That is why I did not refuse whenever Churchill Brothers sent me the offers to play for them in the IWL.”

The Desire of Puja Karmakar

Puja has not yet obtained any job which she badly needs. She said,

“I have tried to get a job desperately. I was a victim also as even after being confirmed for the job at Railways, I was ruled out at the last moment. It will not be possible for me to continue playing at the same rhythm. So, I badly need a job and ask my mother to take rest from working at other households.”
