After an overwhelming response from fans and players over the last two years, Pro Wrestling League season 3 is back to entertain you. This time the stage is set to host a bigger congregation of wrestlers from world over.
More than 200 International players have expressed their intent for the third season. The extensive list of 300 players, Indian and International arescrutinized by ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India. This is done to carve out the best teams with top players.
Pro Wrestling League Season 3 – Olympic style Greco Roman Introduced for the first time
Speaking at the announcement of Pro Wrestling league season 3, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, President of Wrestling Federation of India said “Greco Roman style of Wrestling was introduced in first Summer Olympics of 1896. India has a rich past at the International level in this type of wrestling. We had showcased first significant performance (Gold medal) at 1962, Jakarta Asian Games.”
“Therefore, the inclusion of Olympic style Greco Roman format is a historic move that will offer International exposure to the wrestlers. In addition to existing Freestyle Wrestling in the league, this will also take the level of Greco Roman category a notch above,” concluded Brijbhushan Sharan Singh.
Putting light on the historic move Kartikeya Sharma, Founder and Promoter, ProSportify, added “We have been successful in our endeavour to grow the game of Wrestling. The growth is not only in terms of commercial level, but also at the sporting landscape of Wrestling.”

Top wrestlers are already eyeing a spot in teams for the third season. Indian and International players are all set to battle it out even harder on the mats of Pro Wrestling League as the third season acts as the fitting precursor to Commonwealth Games & Asian Games 2018.
Pro Wrestling League season 3 – New Techniques, New format and lot of excitement
The third season of Pro Wrestling League (PWL) commences on the 9th of January 2018. The new dimension added to its fervour is Olympic style Greco Roman Wrestling. This comes as an addition to current form of Freestyle Wrestling, a format that would add rich annals to the Indian wrestling hall of fame.
Continuing from the first two editions of PWL, in season 3 the broadcasters have created a well packaged televised experience. Laced with acclaimed players, technical broadcasting wizardry and innovations in broadcasting is the highlight Pro Wrestling League season 3.
Pro Wrestling League Season 3 – A hit among International Wrestlers
The league has garnered international attention. Innovative moves like toss and blocking, neon clothing and converting the individual sport of wrestling into a team sport with round robin format, 2 semi-finals and a grand finale. All the factors add up to make PWL a must watch for all sport lovers.
One of the most lucrative leagues in the world, PWL till date witnessed 36 power packed ties. These ties have witnessed 2461 points scored, with a leading point score of 38 points (Bengaluru vs. Punjab) in a single bout.
In the previous two successful editions of Pro Wrestling League fans got to see a total of 30 Olympians. Among these 11 are Rio Olympic medallists, 16 medallists are World Champion and 7 Continental Games champions. The auction pool made the league a super hit platform across the Wrestling fraternity and fans in five continents.
The state-of-the-art conceptualization of Pro Wrestling League is applauded and endorsed by the President of United World Wrestling. According to him Wrestling Federation of India has created the much needed and rewarding platform for International players across all categories.
Sushil Kumar to make his Pro Wrestling debut
Indian wrestling legend and double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar will make his Pro Wrestling League debut in the 74 kilogram weight category. Sushil kept himself out of the first two season due injuries that lingered with him for two years. The Haryanvi wrestler is on a high, after clinching Commonwealth Wrestling Championship gold in December.
Sushil Kumar has added a lot to the wrestling hall of fame in the history of Indian wrestling. His debut in PWL is a good sign that will inspire budding wrestlers.
Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brijbhushan Sharan Singh asserted that Sushil’s participation will help to improve the popularity of the PWL.
Sushil in a statement said, “I am extremely gratified with my debut in the PWL season 3. Globally, the PWL has emerged as top most calendar event for wrestlers around the world. The interest, prize money, television viewership and fan frenzy is unparalleled. I am confident of leaving a strong imprint on this league.”
Reigning Asian champion Bajrang Punia, 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik, ‘Dangal girls’ the Phogat sisters, are all among the other Indian stars in the fray.
One of the biggest names in the wrestling world and current Olympic and World champion Helen Maroulis of the United States is also making her debut in Pro Wrestling League.
Sushil in his debut performance will face a strong challenge in the 74 kilogram weight category. The category includes former European Champion Jabrayil Hasanov, Olympic medallist Akzhurek Tanatarov, Asian Champion Bekzod Abdurakhmonov, Olympian Jakob Makarashvili and Georgian star Tariel Gaprindashvili.
Pro Wrestling League – Indian and International Wrestlers Walk the Ramp and Dance on Bollywood Songs
Ahead of Pro Wrestling League Season 3 the wrestlers had a fun outing. A fashion show was organized to recognize Bollywood sports movies that help in growing India’s sporting landscape.
An exclusively designed Bollywood fashion show was organized in Delhi to announce Pro Wrestling League season 3. Top Olympic medalist Helen Maroulis, Marwa Amri, Sakshi Malik along with Commonwealth Games medalist Tayla Ford, Geeta Phogat and U23 World Champion Bajrang Punia walked the ramp on Bollywood beats.
Wrestling Queen Geeta Phogat grooved on the beats of movie Dangal as the showstopper. Olympics and World Champion Helen Maroulis danced on Deewani Mastani, followed by other Indian and International stars.
Bollywood Fashion show at Pro Wrestling League
Pro Wrestling League is an initiative of ProSportify in association with Wrestling Federation of India. Ahead of PWL 3 auctions, a Bollywood themed fashion show helped the player to cherish and enjoy sportily with other Pro Wrestling League players.
It was refreshing to see the same stars fully decked up from head to toe, showing their ramp walking skills.
Gracing the ramp with musical moves, Olympic & World Champion Helen Maroulis looked all excited. She said, “I am glad to be a part of Pro Wrestling League. It is very famous worldwide and it gives the much-needed platform to the players. I am eagerly looking forward to being a part of Season 3.”
Making heads turn on the beats of Desi Girl, Olympic Bronze medalist Sakshi Malik was in a gleeful mood. She added, “I have never experienced such thing in life ever. Pro Wrestling League is the best platform for all the wrestlers. It’s not just wrestling, but other engaging activities as well.”
The ramp remained star studded affair for many wrestlers. Real life couples Rahul and Sarita Mann, Geeta and Pawan and Sakshi and Satyavrat made the perfect pair. The rest of Phogat clan, Vinesh & Ritu energized the event with their ‘Dhakad’ performance.
It’s a season of Sports Leagues for fans in India
The Indian fans are the luckiest in the world. We say this, as at the moment there are 3 simultaneous leagues to savour for sports lovers.
In football, the Indian Super League (ISL) is generating a good amount of interest. The difference between top five teams is just 4 points.
The Premier Badminton League started on a high note. The opening match held between Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu, went down the wire. PBL season 3 will be played till 14th of January.
And with the Pro Wrestling League dates announced, Indian sports fans have the double delight of watching all their sporting icons in India.
