After the super success of the first five seasons, organizers of one of India’s most watched sports competition, the Pro Kabaddi League have announced the dates for the upcoming two seasons. In season V the fans witnessed Pro Kabaddi matches in a 13 week format; same will continue in season VI and VII.

Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd, after various internal rounds of meeting with officials and broadcasters have zeroed upon the dates. The sixth season of the VIVO Pro Kabaddi will begin on 19th October, 2018. The league promises to be the biggest kabaddi spectacle of the year, and is planned to go on for duration of 13 weeks. This is consistent with the format of Season V of the league.

At the same time, Mashal Sports Pvt. Ltd has also announced that VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season VII will commence on Friday, 19th July 2019. This will also be played according to the 13-week format.

In Season V, the Pro Kabaddi league scaled unprecedented heights having expanded from 8 teams to 12 teams and conducting 138 matches over a duration of 13 weeks. Withstanding intense competition, Patna Pirates led by Pardeep Narwal beat Gujarat Fortune Giants to clinch the championship title for the third consecutive time.

Season V touched new highs in terms of viewership records as well. It was viewed by a staggering 313 million viewers with a watch time of 100 billion minutes. In fact PKL season 5 final became the most viewed non-cricket sporting event on Indian television.

Anupam Goswami, League Commissioner, VIVO Pro Kabaddi said, “The VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season VI window has been created to keep in mind adequate recovery time for the players post the Asian Games, and adequate preparation time for VIVO Pro Kabaddi teams to achieve an ideal state of squad readiness for Season VI. The advance window for Season VII will afford forward-looking preparation for squad formation and commercial strategy.”

Janardan Singh Gehlot, President, International Kabaddi Federation said, “Mashal has taken India’s sport of Kabaddi from strength to strength with VIVO Pro Kabaddi. We welcome the long-term approach which will take it to even greater heights.”
