With Parvesh Bhainswal and K Prapanjan’s bright performances, Gujarat Fortune Giants continued with their excellent form by securing a comfortable 47-37 win against opponent Haryana Steelers in a Pro Kabaddi League Season 6 fixture on Wednesday. In the Zone B match of the day, hosts Telugu Titans went down 24-37 against Bengaluru Bulls.
The raiding duo of Sachin and Prapanjan led the charge for Gujarat Fortune Giants and both scored a super 10 each. Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal led the defence for Gujarat Fortune Giants and restrained raiders of Haryana Steelers throughout the match.
Monu Goyat was the top scorer for Haryana with 11 points but couldn’t save his team from being knocked out of the playoff race. Prapanjan started the proceedings for Gujarat Fortune Giants with a couple of raid points in the second minute and were already leading by 4-1 against Haryana.
Haryana Steelers crumbled under Gujarat Fortune Giants’ quick start and suffered an all-out in just the 4th minute of the game.
Monu Goyat tried to regain some points in the first half with two good raids. But his efforts were of no use as Gujarat Fortune Giants were leading 18-9 after 10 minutes of play.
In the 12th minute of the game, Naveen made a super raid to help Haryana Steelers reduce the gap to seven points and were trailing 12-19 at the end of 12 minutes.
But the raiding duo of Sachin and K Prapanjan were unstoppable in the first half. In the 18th minute of the game, Gujarat’s defence joined the scoring with a superb tackle. At the end of the first half, Gujarat Fortune Giants were comfortably enjoying a 12 point lead over Haryana Steelers.
Gujarat Fortune Giants made a two-point raid in the 27th minute of the game to further extend their lead to 32-19. Gujarat inflicted another all out in the 29th minute to lead 36-20.
The last 10 minutes were all about Haryana Steelers reducing the gap of defeat.
Vikas K made a two-point raid in the 35th minute of the game as Haryana Steelers trailed 27-40.
Monu Goyat then made a two-point raid as Haryana inflicted an all-out in the 36th minute to reduce the gap further by eight points. Haryana was trailing 32-40 with four minutes to go. Then there was great tackle by Sachin and it helped Giants fly away with the game. At the end of the time, Gujarat Fortune Giants were 10 points ahead over Haryana Steelers as the scoreboard reflected 47-37.
With 78 points in the Zone A, Gujarat Fortune Giants are just 4 points behind U Mumba. There is a tough competition between Gujarat and U Mumba for topping the Zone A charts.
