Continuing their winning run, U Mumba smashed Gujarat Fortune Giants 36-26 in a zone A contest at the ongoing Pro Kabaddi League 6 (PKL 6) on Sunday.
An impressive defensive show by U Mumba helped them register a win over Gujarat Fortune Giants. Presently, U Mumba is on top-of-the-table in Zone A with a total of 72 points in the Pro Kabaddi League season 6. Gujarat Fortune Giants is positioned at number 2 in Zone A with a total of 63 points.
This was U Mumba’s first-ever victory over Gujarat Fortune Giants in the history of Pro Kabaddi League till date. The heroes of U Mumba’s glorious victory were some of its experienced players – Dharmaraj Cherlathan (6 points) and Rohit Rana (5 points).

U Mumba scored a total of 16 tackle points, which was more than their raiders points. For Gujarat Fortune Giants, Sachin scored 8 points while Prapanjan contributed by scoring 4 points.
Rohit Balliyan’s two-point raid in the 3rd minute of the game gave U Mumba a 4-2 lead. U Mumba appeared like a team who was in a hurry as they took only 4 minutes to inflict the first all out to lead by 9-4.
Then Sachin scored 2 raid points for Gujarat as they trailed 6-9 after 6 minutes of play in the game. It was Sachin’s raiding brilliance that kept Gujarat Fortune Giants alive in the match as he kept on picking raid points at periodic intervals.
Gujarat Fortune Giants sent U Mumba’s Siddharth Desai to the bench with a strong tackle to trail 11-12 after 13 minutes in the game.
It was a close match between two equally matched and competent teams. At the break time, U Mumba was leading the game by 3 points ahead of Gujarat Fortune Giants. Scorecard at break time was 17-14.
Siddharth Desai grabbed an essential raid point in the 26th minute of the game that gives U Mumba a 20-17 lead. Desai by scoring another raid in the 29th minute gave U Mumba 10-point lead over their opponents.
Sachin tried to bring Gujarat back into the contest with a few raid points but U Mumba was not at all complacent to relinquish their lead.
U Mumba enforced a super tackle and collected 2 more tackle points in the last 5 minutes of the match.
Finally game ended with scorecard 36-26 as U Mumba continued their winning streak in the Pro Kabaddi League 2018.
