Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will inaugurate National Games in Goa this October, according to Chef Minister of Goa- Pramod Sawant. He spoke to reporters after holding a meeting with Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha to review preparations for the Games. State Sports Minister Govind Gaude was also present at this meeting.
The chief minister later told reporters,
“Tentatively, the inauguration will be held on October 23 or 24, depending on the appointment of the PM,”
“The Games will continue till November 10”
The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, South Goa district. IOA president PT Usha said that the states are ready to host the games. State Sports Minister, Govind Gaude said that 38 disciplines have been identified for the games and all venues are ready.
An IOA technical team visited the venue and another team is expected to arrive in the state on April 27.
The National Games is a platform for athletes from across the country to showcase their talents in a range of sports such as athletics, swimming, boxing, football, and more. The event is expected to attract thousands of participants from all over India.
