PKL Auction: Shadloui Chiyaneh from Iran Emerges as Most Expensive Player with a Price INR 2.35 Crore

Iran’s Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh achieved the title of most expensive player in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) auction. He was secured by Puneri Paltan for a hefty sum of Rs 2.35 crore. On the same day, India’s Maninder Singh was also signed by Bengal Warriors for Rs 2.12 crore. This two-day auction commenced with 12 teams participating in the bidding for players in categories A and B, encompassing both Indian and international talents. The auctions for categories C and D are scheduled for the following day.

In the 10th edition of the PKL, there are a total of 137 matches scheduled. This includes 132 league stage games and a playoff phase consisting of five matches. The playoff comprises two eliminators, two semifinals, and the final match. In terms of base prices, category A starts at Rs 30 lakh, category B begins at Rs 20 lakh, while categories C and D have base prices set at Rs 13 lakh and Rs 9 lakh, respectively.

In the recent auction, Iran’s captain, Shadloui, an accomplished all-rounder, garnered substantial attention due to his outstanding performance in the Asian Games final against the gold medal-winning Indian team.

Teams U Mumba and Gujarat Giants initiated the bidding process, and they were quickly joined by Puneri Paltan and Telugu Titans. Ultimately, Puneri Paltan secured the Iranian player for a substantial sum of Rs 2.35 crore.
