PKL 2018: U Mumba Crush Delhi in One-Sided Battle; UP Yoddha defeats Telugu Titans

In the Zone A match, title favourites U Mumba continued its winning performance by crushing Dabang Delhi in a one-sided contest of Vivo Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Vizag on Tuesday.

In another battle on Tuesday, UP Yoddha defeated Telugu Titans the hosts 27-20 in a Zone B battle.

U Mumba’s Outstanding Performance

U Mumba again displayed an all-round performance as its defenders and raiders put on a convincing display. Rohit Baliyan (8 points) and Siddharth Desai (12 points) displayed excellency as raiders. At the same time, Fazel Atrachali’s high five and Surender Singh with handful four points marshaled the defence solidly.

Earlier, Rohit Baliyan gave U Mumba a quick start with two raids in a couple of minutes to see U Mumba leading by 4-1. In the first half, Chandran Ranjit picked up two raid points for Dabang Delhi and no other raider was able to grab points afterwards.

Dabang Delhi struggled to keep going against a solid opposition while one of its players had a standout match. Meraj Sheykh of Dabang Delhi had a match to forget as he was not even able to get off the mark.

At present, U Mumba is at the top in Zone A with 82 points. With 60 points on its name Dabang Delhi is positioned on rank 3 in Zone A. Despite defeat faced against U Mumba, Dabang Delhi is still in the competition for a place in the playoffs.

In the 16th minute of the game, U Mumba inflicted first all out of the match to lead 16-8. That was an impressive first half show from U Mumba which helped them to enter into the break leading 19-11.

Dabang Delhi was on equal footing as that of U Mumba at the start of the second half as they were able to match point for point but still, they were trailing 15-23 after 27 minutes in the game.

Siddharth Desai’s successful raid in the 30th minute of the game led to another all out as U Mumba led 30-15.

After the second all out of the battle U Mumba completely asserted dominance. Delhi Dabang surrendered helplessly as in the last 10 minutes of the game they were able to score just 4 points.

U Mumba inflicted third all out of the game in the last 5 minutes and secured an easy and comfortable 44-19 win in the end.

U Mumba’s balanced side gives them an extra edge over others and that is the reason they are appearing as a title favorites this Vivo PKL season.
