The left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar provided the much-needed breakthrough to Punjab Kings, he dismissed the dangerous man Prithvi Shaw on his very first ball and brought some hopes for his side. After the dismissal of Shaw, the match was in control for Punjab Kings. They successfully brought the scoring rate to as low as 6 runs an over.

However, they were in need of regular wickets to keep themselves alive in the game but that never happened.

Gradually, Dhawan stepped on the accelerator and completed his 44th fifty in the IPL. From there on, there was no stopping for Delhi Capitals. In the end, West Indian batsman Shimron Hetmyer (16 off 4) smashed two sixes and a four in the 18th over to finish the game with 14 balls left.
